We have you, we don't need PayPal (maybe)

In this period there are two questions that are asked most often.

"When will you reopen to the public?"
You know, if it depended on us we would not have closed even for 5 minutes: the only thing we can do is wait for new provisions to reopen safely, in the meantime guaranteeing all our shipping services, order management, consultancy and everything else to you are used to.

"Why did you remove PayPal from the payment methods on your site?"
Here, answering is easier for us. Let's start with a trivial consideration: there are buyers and sellers.
The seller bears the expenses and charges to allow those who buy to use more tools, comfortable and safe, to make their experience easier (or "user friendly" to use marketing jargon).
These are accessory costs that often have a significant impact on what is the final gain. Specifically, the PayPal fees that are subtracted from the seller on each transaction amount to approximately 4%.
This means that if a customer buys a pair of trousers on the Pincopallino.com website and pays them 100 Euros, Mr. Pincopallino receives 96 Euros on his account. The other 4 go to PayPal, which charges for their service.

Banks, which are notoriously not non-profit organizations and are pointed out for every possible evil of our days, for credit card payments, which are equally safe and protected, apply commissions on average around 1.5%. Less than half that of PayPal.

But it's not even the 4% of fees that made us suspend PayPal from our site throughout April. What we believe to be a truly unfair and scandalous practice is that PayPal has changed the return policy. The seller who reimburses the customer still pays the commissions.
Let's go back to the case of the pants. I receive the shipment, I thought they made me more John Travolta 70s instead I look in the mirror and see Massimo Boldi more in a cinepanettone. I decide to change them. The very serious Mr. Pincopallino makes the refund via PayPal. I get my 100 Euros. To Mr. Pincopallino 96 Euros are reimbursed. The 4 euros always remain with PayPal.
As they say, the dealer always wins. Especially when the dealer makes the rules. And the only thing we can do is play at another table, and that's what we've decided to do.

A few days ago a customer bought an instrument on our site, paying for it with PayPal. A little later he called to say he was no longer convinced, that it was an impulse buy. No problem, we arrange the refund immediately and we are still charged 88.39 Euros. Money literally thrown into the toilet. Why?

For an e-commerce like ours, even if only the 5% of PayPal customers made a return, at the end of the year it would be a huge economic loss that would add up to the lost sales. We may also be happy to pay a 4% commission to offer a service (on our side, however, very poor), but why should we line the pockets of a multinational that applies policies that we believe are unfair?

We could have done as unfortunately other e-commerce companies in every sector do: load this cost on the end customer. Do you want to pay with PayPal? Then you have to add tot Euros to the price. In addition to violating art. 62 of the Consumer Code, we consider it a truly unfair thing towards you.

Wanting to respect the rules and be fair with you, we have therefore decided to implement the payment services (in our opinion excellent) that we already offer.

Cash on delivery: for the whole month we have decided to offer this service for free, which allows you to pay in cash directly to the courier, in total safety, upon receipt of the shipment

Credit card: we accept both bank and postal cards, rechargeable and non-rechargeable, practically from any international circuit

Recharge your Postepay: you can do it both online and at any post office, tobacconist's, betting shop (and also many enabled bars)

Financing: even without a paycheck, even remotely without having to come to the store and we do everything in 9 minutes on the clock. Zero paper, zero bureaucracy, zero signatures

Klarna: here we have staked a lot and we are, to date, the only musical instrument shop in Italy to offer the possibility of dividing the payment into 3 installments without any interest, without extra costs and with maximum transparency. To say, it is a payment method that is used on the e-commerce of Samsung, Diesel, H&M, Eastpack and many other world-class brands. And, we repeat, we are the only ones authorized to offer this service in our sector. For us it has the same cost as PayPal, but in this case it is a cost that we pay more than willingly to offer you buyers a truly useful and advantageous service

Satispay: another super smart payment method that we use both in store and online. Truly secure, it offers customers several features including managing the State Cashback without having to go crazy between the various apps. Among the so-called electronic wallets (e-wallett) it is in our opinion the best

Bank transfer: a super classic that never tires, a bit like the Ludwig Supraphonic

The only real advantage that PayPal offers to those who use it is, in addition to the convenience of making purchases sitting on the toilet without having to carry a credit card, is the so-called "protection of purchases". What if you want to buy an inflatable doll from a shop in Kuala Lumpur that you don't know but hey… we're talking about RingoMusic!
You know that for us, more than the protection of purchases, there is the protection of our reputation: we are always available to solve any problem that may arise before, during and after your purchases. And you are the first witnesses of it. We answer every call, every email or message: we are always there. Always. Always.

So the question we ask ourselves is: can you sell without PayPal? The answer is: let's try!

We will see how things go, if there are no particularly negative declines on sales, we will remain so. Otherwise, as James Russell Lowell said, only fools don't change their minds.
And we are all but stupid.
